How we make money
Short version: through the site owner’s own Starlink referral link. Here is how it works and how you would know.
Updated
Right now
- Starlink referral link: on. The “See Starlink plans” header button and the plan boxes on decision pages, blog posts and news posts use the site owner’s own Starlink referral link, through a /go/starlink/ redirect on this site. If you order through one, Starlink may give the owner a referral reward. Your price is the same. Every box carries this disclosure right next to the links; troubleshooting pages, the Failover Builder and these trust pages carry no box.
- Affiliate links: off. Gear in the Failover Builder and guides is linked without any commission.
- Display ads: none.
- Sponsored posts or paid placement: none, and we don’t accept them.
What may change later
Running a site costs money, so the owner may switch on more of these. If that happens, this page is updated first, with the date.
The Starlink referral program
Starlink runs a referral program for its customers. Under its terms, a new customer who orders with a referral link can get a free month of service, and the customer who referred them can get a reward. The conditions are set by Starlink and change from time to time; this site states only what it has checked, and the reward never changes the price you pay.
The referral box appears after the honest verdict, including the cases where Starlink is the wrong choice, and never on troubleshooting pages or the Failover Builder, where readers usually already have Starlink.
Affiliate links for backup-line gear
Dual-WAN routers, cellular hotspots, UPS units and cables are things readers buy after using the Failover Builder. A store may pay a commission on some of those purchases. It would not change the price you pay.
Display ads
Ads could come later. Before any ad network runs here, the privacy page would be updated and a privacy-choices control added.
How paid links are disclosed
- A plain-language disclosure right next to each link, in the same size as the text around it. A footer note alone isn’t enough, and we won’t rely on one.
- A short line at the top of any page that carries such a link, pointing back here.
- Every referral or affiliate link marked
rel="sponsored nofollow". - The disclosure sits in the same paragraph as the link, so a quote of that paragraph carries both.
What money never changes
- No vendor pays for placement. Gear and backup plans are picked on what they do, with dated prices; a cheaper or better option without a commission still gets listed.
- Report data is never edited for money. Published numbers change only through a dated correction on corrections.
- Verdicts stay honest. If fiber or cable is available to you, we say take it.
